Photo Shoot for Book Today

Today we did a photo shoot with Dan Mandell and his assistant Sunny. Dan is working on a book of dog headshots.

After the photo shoot, its time for an autograph. Mr. Reykjavik had way too much help on this, and in the end, he showed he could do it just fine by himself.

In New York Even The Dog Walkers Are Attractive

Reykjavik on a photo shoot in DUMBO with an attractive model. He gets all the girls, and yet, he's still so down to earth

In The Mansion

Alexander Reykjavik did really well with with all that he was asked to do, except for one thing. The nights we were filming were quite hot and muggy, and coupled with the set lighting, it made for a warm stuffy environment. A bit warmer than AR would have liked. His mark for this scene was the wood floor, between the rug (he was not to set foot on it, per the home owner request), and the tile floor (which would bring him forward out of the camera frame).

Filming involves lots of waiting, and between takes, he would want to inch his way out onto the cool tile floor. I would move him back onto the wood floor, he would stay positioned properly for quite awhile, then . . .

. . . he move his front paws and head out over the sweet cold tile again - aaaaaahhhhhhh.

By the end of the night, he just wanted to go to sleep, which is what he is normally doing at 3am. All in all, he was quite a trooper, and did all the other behaviors well. He even left with one of the actors on cue (off-leash), something we have never practiced. What a good boy.

Filming Nightwalks T.V. Pilot

Here is Alexander Reykjavik, perfectly on his mark, inside the mansion we filmed in. Behind, though the cameraphone photo is a bit blurry, you can maybe get some sense of the opulence of this place. This is the dining room, complete with padded walls and Ming dynasty vases.

AR, awaiting command. He picked up things very quickly.

The dog's eye view. You see the feet of the two actors he worked with, Hezekiah and Aaron, as they stand on their marks for blocking.

Taking a break in between takes. He made friends with all of the crew.

More Fashion Photos of AR

Here are a few more from the fashion photo shoot on our roof in Williamsburg. All photos by Klynt.

Look closely at the model's hair (click on photo to enlarge). The photos were taken during a lightning storm, and these photos were taken just after a very loud crack of thunder, as lightning hit very near by.

You can see more of Ar and the model on this web album.

High Fashion Photo Shoot

It's not every day that Alexander Reykjavik gets to hang out with a fashion model, but today he proved the perfect accessory for one.

After his photo was taken at the Brooklyn Industries Top Dog contest (see previous post) we came up on the roof of our building to watch the thunder storm roll in. It was a case of being in the right place at the right time, since there was a high fashion photo shoot in progress up there. Klynt, the photographer, asked if Alexander Reykjavik could be in a few shots (98 to be exact).

He looked so much more handsome in these shots than in the one taken for the contest. I guess he is more Manhattan than Brooklyn.

Top Dog — June 16 - Williamsburg

Top Dog — June 16 - Williamsburg: "Alexander Reykjavik (Reyk)

We entered AR in the Brooklyn Industries "Top Dog" contest, where they are looking for a dog that best represents Brooklyn. Not sure AR fits the bill, certainly not in this photo, which is not one of his best. I think in general THE Brooklyn dog is a mutt, not a purebred.
