Description: I was hoping someone could recommend some outdoor cafes in Brooklyn that allow dogs. I'm specifically looking for something in the Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Cobble Hill, Redhook area. I was at Pacifico this weekend and I was told that they do not allow dogs anymore because they got fined last year. My understanding was that dogs are ok as long as you are outside. Can someone clarify this?
Re:Re:Outdoor Cafes in Brooklyn that Allow Dogs Thanks. Do you have a law or regulation that explains that? The best I could find was 24 RCNY Hlth. Code 81.25, which states that " No live animal shall be kept, housed or permitted to enter into or remain in any food service establishment. . ." But to me, that doesn't explain the restaurant enclosure distinction. |
Re:Re:Re:Outdoor Cafes in Brooklyn that Allow Dogs It's a "hole" in the law. State law says no animals IN food service establishments (places where food is served-prepared for humans). So -- in guidelines re food-service inspections -- NYC Dept of Health & Hygiene specifically cites animals as violations when IN the bldg, ON food line, etc. There's wiggle-room if animals aren't IN the bldg, and aren't in a food-prep space, and follow other law (leashed in public, no banned species, etc.)" |
